Coffee

Historically, coffee has been the economic engine of Caldas. Of 27 districts, 25 are dedicated to harvesting it. In around 72,366 hectares of planted coffee, more than 20,000 men and women meet twice a year to hand-pick 9.05% of the total Colombian coffee production. The topography of Caldas is a landscape that mixes tropical forests and highlands. Its soils are rich in volcanic ash, giving the final cup delicate notes of chocolate and red wine. The average altitude above sea level is 7,063 feet. The temperature varies between 57 ° F and 70 ° F. Caldas also grows under the shade of plantain and banana vegetation.
